Board of Directors

The Kakuzi Board consists of the Chairman, who has non-executive responsibilities, three independent Directors, two non-executive directors and two executive Directors.

The Board meets quarterly and is responsible for establishing the corporate governance pillars, setting the strategic direction, reviewing business performance and supervision of the management of Kakuzi operations.

The directors have the knowledge, experience, autonomy and skills enabling them to carry out their Board responsibilities. 

 

Graham Mclean - Chairman

Mr Graham Mclean is the Chairman of Kakuzi PLC.

He is a qualified agriculturalist with a Bachelors and Master’s degree from Aberdeen University, Scotland. He is also the Managing Director, Agriculture division of the parent company, Camellia Plc. He has been with the group for over 25 years.

Nicholas Nganga

Mr. Nganga is a non-executive Director of Kakuzi PLC.

He is a holder of a BA degree from Makerere University and served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Health. Mr. Nganga has been extensively involved in the tea industry and was Chairman of the Tea Board of Kenya.

He is a past Chairman of the National Bank of Kenya. Currently, he is the Chairman of Safaricom Plc, G4S Security and Car & General Kenya Ltd

Daniel M Ndonye

Mr. Daniel M. Ndonye is an Independent Director of Kakuzi PLC and the Chairman of its Board Audit & Risk Committee.

He is a chartered accountant by profession, having worked with Deloitte & Touche for over 30 years, 20 of which he was the Managing/Senior Partner. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya.

He is also the Chairman of I&M Holdings Ltd, AccessKenya Group Ltd and AutoXpress Ltd.

He is currently also on the Board of Directors of KenolKobil Ltd and APA Insurance Ltd

Stephen Waruhiu

Mr. Stephen Waruhiu is an independent Director of Kakuzi PLC.

He is a licenced valuer and estate agent. He is the Managing Director of Lloyd Masika Limited. He is also a Director of Rea Vipingo plantations Limited and has been practising as a valuer and estate agent in Kenya, and also in Tanzania and Uganda, for over 35 years.

Andrew Ndegwa Njoroge

Mr. Andrew Ndegwa Njoroge is an independent Director of Kakuzi PLC.

He is a Chartered Accountant by profession. He holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree from the University of British Columbia, Canada. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

He is currently also on the Board of Combrok Ltd and Kinandu Ltd.

Kenneth W Tarplee

Mr Kenneth Tarplee is a non-executive Director of Kakuzi Plc. 

He is an Accountant by profession, a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants (UK) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya. He has been with the group for 40 years.

Christopher Flowers - Managing Director

Was appointed Managing Director for Kakuzi Plc in 2013.

A qualified engineer and agriculturalist he has over 20 years’ experience working with tea and forestry crops and has worked for the group for over 5 years.

Ketan Shah - Finance Director

Ketan is a qualified Accountant and a member of both the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Christopher Flowers - Managing Director

Was appointed Managing Director for Kakuzi Plc in 2013.

A qualified engineer and agriculturalist he has over 20 years’ experience working with tea and forestry crops and has worked for the group for over 5 years.

Ketan Shah - Finance Director

Ketan is a qualified Accountant and a member of both the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Brendan Scott - Chief Operating Officer

Brendon joined Kakuzi in 2018 and is a qualified Agriculturist with over 25 years’ experience in Coffee, Tea, Avocado and Macadamia.

He currently oversees the management of Kakuzi’s diverse operations including Avocado, Macadamia, Pineapple, Forestry and Livestock.

 

Simon Odhiambo - General Manager Corporate Affairs

He was appointed General Manager Corporate Affairs in January 2017. A qualified Environmental Health professional with over 15 years’ experience in compliance, management systems design , implementation and auditing. He has been actively involved in internationally recognised socio-environmental and ethical standards development.

He has been with the group for over 13 years.

Benjamin Okiring - General Manager Finance and Administration

Ben is a qualified accountant and a member of the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya. He was appointed General Manager Finance and Administration in March 2018.

He has been with the company for over 10 years.

Paul Mbugua - General Manager, Horticulture Operations

With an Engineering background, he joined the groups Nandi Hills tea operations in 1987 where he worked until 2013 when he was transferred to the horticulture division in Makuyu.

He is the current General Manager, Horticulture Operations.

 

Harry Bowman - General Manager Macadamia Operations

With degrees in Agriculture and Engineering, he joined Kakuzi in 2010. He is now General Manager for the Macadamia Operations.
