Furniture for Percy Davies Special School and Kakuzi Primary

Kakuzi donated furniture to the two schools with the aim of foster an environment and atmosphere that enhances learning. The furniture is both for the teachers and pupils.

Makuyu Boys Secondary School-Ablution Block

Kakuzi has partnered with Makuyu Boys Secondary school to construct an ablution block.

With its completion, the project will improve concentration; learning and hygiene practices among students in the school.

This is hoped to reduce hygiene related diseases and thus promote learning.

Murang’a County Career and Education Expo

This is an annual event is organized by Murang’a County Education and Career Expo.  A total of over 4,000 students from schools in the county benefited from various speakers drawn from corporates, universities, colleges, and business enterprises on career choices and education. Kakuzi has been a constant sponsor of the event that teachers, parents and students agree has a huge impact on the choices the leaners make.

Avocado Development with Makuyu Secondary School

Working towards empowering institutions, Kakuzi is working with Makuyu Boys Secondary to develop an Avocado orchard on the school’s farm. The company donated 100 seedlings towards this project as well as offered technical knowledge on Avocado development. A team from Kakuzi visited the school to determine the viability of the soils and was satisfied.

All necessary preparations have been put in place; planting was done on 19th April 2018 under the supervision of Kakuzi horticulture east manager and the Kakuzi extension officer. The project will be monitored closely to ensure it succeeds.

Sanitation facilities in Kakuzi Primary School

The objective of the project is improved concentration, learning and health among pupils attending Kakuzi primary school.  The project after completion is expected to not only promote the use of latrines but also address the current sanitation problem caused by the heavy rains that made the latrines at the school sink.

The school will also be assisted to realize hand washing facilities to promote hand hygiene. Currently, the pupils have no hand washing facilities.

Fencing Muthiti Secondary School

With authorization from the county education office, local administration, and the community to fence the school; Kakuzi proceeded with the perimeter fence which has been completed. The school administration, chairman BOM and area chief expressed their gratitude to Kakuzi for helping to fence the school.

Percy Davies Special School

Percy Davies School for Children with Special Needs is located in Kambiti. The school provides boarding facilities and education for children with mental and physical disabilities. Kakuzi continues to support the institution by providing furniture.  A follow up visit to the school revealed that the learning is more comfortable and the school administration is grateful for the support Kakuzi is giving.

International Literacy Day Celebrations-Ithanga

International Literacy Day (IDL) is an opportunity for stakeholders to highlight improvements in world literacy rates, and reflect on the world's remaining literacy challenges. Literacy is a key component of the UN's sustainable development goals (SDG) and UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

SDG 4 has as one of its targets ensuring all young people achieve literacy and numeracy and that adults who lack these skills are given the opportunity to acquire them. Kakuzi fully sponsored the celebrations for Murang’a County held at Ithanga.

Sanitation facilities in Kakuzi Primary School

As part of our on going campaign to ensure children have access to Quality education, Kakuzi constructed latrines and installed a hand washing tank at Kakuzi Primary School.

Donation of Furniture to Mithini Primary School

A number of schools in the surrounding community have a challenge when it comes to infrastructure. Kakuzi continues to support these schools through provision of furniture.

This is part of Kakuzi initiative to partner and help surrounding institutions to improve learning outcomes. The school administration and pupils gladly received the donation and thanked Kakuzi for the kind gesture

Kakuzi continues to heavily invest in education for inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all in the communities that surround us.

Sanitation Facilities for Mangoto ECD

The main task of schools is to provide education; the successful conduct of these programmes and activities depends mainly upon the availability of proper infrastructure in the school. The health implications of inadequate toilets and sanitation are very serious. The facility constructed by Kakuzi is expected to not only promote hygiene but also address hygiene practices for the young leaners.

This intervention gives a head start to the education journey of the young leaners in the center. The primary beneficiaries of the latrine and rehabilitated class will be the young leaners.
