Infrastructural support to Primary and Secondary Schools

Kakuzi continues to work with education stakeholders towards attainment of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 that calls for quality education for all.

The company donated furniture to five primary schools (Maji Kiboko, Kitune, Rubiru, Makuyu, Huhoine, Mangoto and Kangangu) and Mutithi Secondary School. These efforts provide the much-needed enabling learning environment for the learners and are expected to improve learning outcomes in the schools.

Rain water harvesting systems and sanitation for schools

Kakuzi has completed the construction of a 10,000L rain water harvesting system at Mutithi secondary school.

This project will benefit over 600 students in the school with clean water.

It is a welcome relief to students who have been carrying water and walking long distances with jerricans to collect water and is expected to positively impact learning outcomes in the school.

Learning program

As schools were closed due to COVID-19 and digital learning has become the norm, we understand that access to technology in most household may vary and therefore the company has bought radios to facilitate government (KICD) radio learning programs in our villages to help the children continue learning.

Re-usable facemasks

There is no single approach that is self-sufficient towards preventing the spread of covid – 19. While we have installed hand washing facilities, Kakuzi is also donating a total of 11,000 reusable face masks to the schools. This will be given to the pupils once schools reopen.

Kakuzi Primary School Renovations

Kakuzi Plc is renovating Kakuzi primary school (a public primary school within its property). This is after the public health, public works and the ministry of education’s inspections that indicated that the school was not safe without the repairs.
