Interventions to help schools observe Covid-19 protocols

Kakuzi continues to work with education stakeholders towards attainment of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 that calls for quality education for all.

School Furniture Donations

Kakuzi donated a total of 1,510 class room furniture (desk, lockers and chairs) to various schools around our catchment.

Hand Washing Tanks

A total of 64 hand washing tanks to facilitate hand washing have also been donated. 

Facemasks

Kakuzi continues to work closely with the education stakeholders to enable schools within our catchment achieve the covid-19 regulations. To this end, Kakuzi has donated 28,600 reusable facemasks.

Sanitation facilities

Good sanitation is a basic human right and contributes towards better academic outcomes. Kakuzi continues to work with schools to facilitate access to these facilities.

A total of 72 sanitation facilities (latrines) have been constructed for schools by Kakuzi giving access to over 1,500 pupils in various schools. 

Kakuzi Primary School renovations

The renovations at Kakuzi primary school (a public primary school within the farm) is complete. Handing over of the newly refurbished classrooms to the school happened in the term beginning May.

This now offers the much-needed conducive learning environment for the leaners.

Rain water harvesting facilities

As part of long-term measures to address the challenge of water shortage, the company continues to install rain water harvesting tanks in 12 primary and secondary schools. 

Tabasamu For Schools

This year the company donated over 5,800 sanitary towels to more than 2,500 students coupled with training on menstrual health and hygiene.
